ECO house in progress!

In week 10 and 11, we started to build our ECO houses.

'' I enjoyed working in a team to build our house, you need at least 4 hands to build. I like agreeing and disagreeing with my group so I can get different ideas. "  Tara.

" You can put your walls and rooms anywhere you want and you don't have to put them in specific place." Tom

Link to Girl Scouts Eco House

We discovered an eco house game that tells you how eco your house design can be.
You have to make choices of what to put in your house such as the type of furniture.
There is an eco meter that shows how the choices you make determine how much energy you save.
Even though it is a girls game it is not too girly!

Insulation Experiment

This week we have been conducting experiments on insulation. To do this students have been wrapping cups in tin foil, wool and fabric then measuring their results over time.

A great bit of science is involved as they need to make sure that is fair testing involved.
How do you measure each cup the same?
What variables have changed? Which variables have stayed the same?
Did the results match my prediction and can I explain why?

All of this is linked to our inquiry on eco housing and the benefit of insulation in building.
After completing the experiment students then graphed their results on Google Sheet.
