#dumplings

To celebrate Chinese New Year, Totara and Matai made 300 dumplings today. There were six students helping us to get the fillings ready. They chopped lots of cabbage, spring onion, chinese mushrooms and carrots. Then Wanwan mixed them with pork and raw eggs so they were sticky.
We also made a vegetarian option.

After that we watched a video to learn about the importance of having dumplings during Chinese New Year.

We had some experts to help us and Wanwan also helped to show us the different steps to making the perfect dumpling. The classes were divided into 6 group and each of these made about 50 dumplings (in record fast time).

The best bit was when we had finished cooking the dumplings - we got to EAT them... and they were delicious (even the staff thought so).
